Bound in brown leather with gilt accents, and a chrome plated locking clasp. The front part of the clasp has been cut (someone lost the key). Slightest surface cracking of the leather. No defects to the hinges, in or out. A scrape to the edge of the pages under the clasp, undoubtably when it was broken open.
