Course of Study for the Indian Schools of the United States: Industrial & Literary

Fep is missing. There is are pencil notations on a few pages, obviously by a student. The Dedication page appears to be signed by the author (Sup. Indian Schools) & the Commissioner of Indian Affairs (Harris). However, I think this was done by a student, even though it appears to be by two different hands. Pg 201/2 is torn at the top (~2", with no loss). Farming, math, wagon painting, etc. However, Miss Reel does emphasize the importance of retaining native & historical knowledge of basket making. A quote: ..."in vew of the aims and purposes in educating the Indian, who is just starting on the road to civilization, etc". Illustrated with photographs at some of the schools. A sad & fascinating book, which at the same time, shows a real interest on the part of the educators in the welfare of the students. ; 6x9"
