Lib #'s have been cleaned off the spine, leaving a dull space. Previous owner, being a numb-fingered idiot, has done repair work to vol. one. Has used colored "goop" to repair the top of the spine, and along the outer hinges. Doesn't look bad at first inspection, but why can't people leave books alone, or take them to someone who knows what to do??? Each vol has a number written in side, in nice copperplate. Vol one on the dedication page, volume two on the index. Other than all that, Mrs. Lincoln, the books look good. The gilt on the spine is bright & unworn.; Ex-Library; 6x9"
