Heard, John Jr. Scrapbooks (2 Volumes)
1894 First Edition Hardcover Very Good Signed by Author
Two volumes, bound in ornate green leather. The cover of volume two has come loose, and reattached with clear tape. If not for that defect, the set would grade "fine". Volume one is labeled 1878-1890, and dated 1890 on the bottom of the spine. Volume 2 is labeld 1890-1893/technical 1885-1893, and is dated 1894 at the bottom of the spine. Heard died in 1895. These appear to be his own volumes, kept as a record of his work. They also appear to contain everything he wrote which appeared in print, down to insignificant letters-to-the-editor in various languages. Most magazine appearances include the covers of the magazines. In addition, there are several manuscripts, typewritten or in carbon copy. Some are signed. I have no idea if all of these were ever in print. There is a table of contents, handwritten, in which he lists where his works were published, but a couple don't seem to be listed. Many articles include his own handwritten corrections. His signature is present in a number of places. An interesting, one of a kind item. This would certainly be THE source for a bibliography of his works. ; Small 4to 9" - 11" tall; Signed by Author
